Award Overview

The Taste of New Brunswick Award recognizes a tourism business, organization, event, experience, or individual that has made an outstanding contribution to showcasing New Brunswick’s unique culinary identity. Through exceptional food and beverage experiences, the recipient celebrates local flavours, supports regional producers, and creates memorable experiences that attract and inspire visitors.

This award honours those who use food and drink to tell New Brunswick’s story, strengthen communities, and enhance the province’s tourism appeal.

Eligibility Criteria: 

Nominees must demonstrate excellence in the following areas

1. Celebration of Local Flavours

  • Showcases New Brunswick’s food, beverage, agricultural, seafood, or culinary traditions.
  • Prioritizes local ingredients, products, producers, or culinary heritage where possible.

2. Visitor Experience

  • Delivers exceptional and memorable culinary experiences for visitors.
  • Creates authentic connections between guests, local culture, and regional cuisine.

3. Innovation and Creativity

  • Demonstrates creativity in culinary offerings, programming, events, partnerships, or visitor engagement.
  • Enhances the appeal of New Brunswick as a culinary destination.

4. Industry and Community Impact

  • Supports local producers, suppliers, and communities.
  • Contributes to tourism growth and strengthens New Brunswick’s food tourism sector.

5. Excellence and Quality

  • Maintains high standards of hospitality, service, product quality, and visitor satisfaction.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to continuous improvement and excellence.

To recognize and celebrate a broader range of individuals, businesses, and organizations within the community, the same recipient may not win the same award category in two consecutive years. This policy is intended to promote greater diversity among award recipients while continuing to recognize excellence, leadership, and meaningful contributions throughout the community.

Judging Considerations:

Nominees will be evaluated based on:

  • Authentic representation of New Brunswick’s culinary identity.
  • Quality and uniqueness of the visitor experience.
  • Use and promotion of local food and beverage products.
  • Innovation, creativity, and leadership in culinary tourism.
  • Contribution to tourism growth and community development.
  • Measurable impact, visitor feedback, and industry recognition.

Ideal Recipient:

Restaurants, cafés, breweries, wineries, distilleries, food producers, culinary tours, food festivals, farmers' markets, seafood experiences, culinary attractions, tourism organizations, and individuals who contribute to the growth and promotion of culinary tourism in New Brunswick.

Nomination Requirements:

Each nomination package must include:

  1. A completed nomination form.
  2. A written summary (max 750 words) describing the food tourism initiatives, its outcomes, and its impacts.
  3. Supporting documents such as:
    - Links to websites, event webpages, online campaigns
    - Sample menu or food offerings
    - List of food and beverage suppliers
    - Photos of the experience or event
    - Guest survey reports or feedback
  4. 1–2 letters of support from food or beverage suppliers, initiative partners or guests/clients.
