Media FAQ
TIANB is the provincial voice of New Brunswick's tourism industry. It represents the interests of tourism businesses and organizations to governments, partners, and decision-makers. It serves as a body for consultation, strategic analysis, and advocacy for the sector's priorities.
We represent tourism operators of all sizes: accomodations, restaurants, attractions, festivals and events, transportation, cultural experiences,
adventure tourism, etc., located throughout all regions of New Brunswick. Membership for tourism operators is entirely optional. It offers numerous benefits and discounted rates on training courses offered to the industry.
The tourism industry is growing, but it operates in a challenging environment: labour shortages, inflationary pressures, infrastructure challenges, and increased interprovincial competition. Despite this, operators are demonstrating great resilience and a capacity for innovation. For any additional information or for an up-to-date overview with the latest data, please feel free to request information through the Media Center.
Our priorities include:
- Strengthening funding and structural recognition of the sector
- Improving strategic infrastructure
- Supporting workforce development
- Aligning with the Government of New Brunswick’s new 2026–2031 provincial tourism strategy
- Improving regional and provincial coordination
We maintain an ongoing dialogue with the Department of Tourism, Heritage, and Culture, as well as the Government of New Brunswick, to ensure that public policies take into account the realities on the ground. We develop strategic recommendations based on data and the needs expressed by our members. TIANB is an organization independent of the Government of New Brunswick and is not a government agency.
Tourism generates significant economic benefits: job creation, vibrant downtowns, revitalization of rural areas, and economic diversification. Every dollar invested in tourism creates a multiplier effect in the local economy. TIANB has numerous resources and data that demonstrate the economic benefits that tourism and its operators bring to the province.
a. Recruiting and retaining staff
b. Rising operating costs
c. Seasonality
d. Pressure on infrastructure
e. Adapting to visitors’ changing expectations
TIANB supports its members through a comprehensive range of advocacy, information, and industry leadership services. We represent the interests of New Brunswick's tourism sector with provincial and national governments, provide strategic intelligence to help businesses navigate emerging trends and challenges, deliver timely communications and sector analysis, foster provincial collaboration and stakeholder engagement, and take public positions on key issues affecting the tourism industry.
We want a sector that is well-structured, fairly funded, competitive on a national scale, and fully recognized as a strategic economic driver. The future of tourism depends on strong collaboration between the government, associations, regions, and operators.
Tourism is not a minor sector. It is a cross-cutting economic pillar that supports communities, stimulates private investment, and contributes to New Brunswick’s image both within Canada and internationally.
